THIS poignant photograph captures Joe Mahon’s final walk with his beloved dog Shep.
The touching image was taken as the Irvinestown businessman brought his “best friend” of 14 years for one last walk around Castle Archdale last week before the very ill dog died.
Shep was known throughout the county and further afield and had become a canine cult figure, winning the Rex Factor, Ireland’s first singing dog contest, and appearing at countless events.
The pair were very much a double act and since impartialreporter.com reported Shep’s death yesterday tributes from his many fans have been pouring in via Facebook.
Charlotte Khalagy wrote: “Poor old Shep and poor Joe. You'll never get a better friend than a Collie.” Patricia Mc Teague wrote: “Been there and done that so I know what it's like, Joe. After having her for 18 years and still miss her after two years.” George Graham wrote: “So sorry to hear of Shep’s death. Faithful friend.” Ann Matthewson wrote: “So sad to hear this Joe. We all know what you thought of him.”
