TWO charities are set to benefit from an all-day celebration of local musical talent being hosted by an Enniskillen pub at the end of this month.

Proceeds from this year’s Rock the Lough, which has been running now for well over a decade, will be split between the stillbirth and neonatal death charity Sands NI and the Horizon West Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice facility in Killadeas.

Hosted by the Bush Bar, in Townhall Street, Enniskillen, Rock the Lough consists of a full day of live bands and acoustic acts on two stages.

In 2015, the event raised just over £10,000 for charity.

This year’s event is taking place on Sunday, August 28.

The festivities begin with the annual motorbike run around Fermanagh, which is due to leave from the rear of the Bush Bar at around 3pm. Entry to this costs £10 per bike.

Meanwhile, the musicians will be playing on two stages inside the Bush Bar from around 4pm until late.

Bands performing this year include The Engagements, I’m not Maggie, Sidewalk Boogie, The Hand me Downs, MotorMan, Judas and many more.

A variety of acoustic acts will also be playing throughout the day, such as The DirtBirds, Michael Smith, Robbie Regan and Pete Cresswell.

Admission for the full day is £5.

Organiser Ciaran Carson this week urged local music lovers of all ages to come along and support the annual fundraiser.

He said: “The bands that we’ve got performing don’t just appeal to one age group, we have something to suit a variety of musical tastes.

“It should be a great day’s fun. Just come along and support us!”
