FINANCE Minister Máirtín Ó Muilleoir does not want our high streets, including in Enniskillen, “just made up of charity shops.”
During Question Time this week, SDLP MLA Richie McPhillips asked the Minister if he planned to impose a “punitive rates system” on charity shops.
“Like the Member, I am a big fan of our charities, but we need to make sure that landlords are not dodging their rates obligation to pay 50 per cent rates on an empty shop by putting in a charity,” replied Minister Ó Muilleoir.
