Demanding fair pay for their work, employees at Balcas began a two day strike this morning.
A number of Unite the Union members employed by Balcas, a wood product supplier based outside Enniskillen, are taking strike action against the company from 6am on Tuesday April 9 to 6am on Thursday April 11.
Speaking on behalf of the strikers, Donal O’ Cófaigh, Secretary of the Fermanagh Council of Trade Unions, told The Impartial Reporter: "Workers in this workplace are on the picket line today and will be tomorrow because of the pay policy of the employer here."

In response to the strikers, a spokeswoman on behalf of Balcas said: "Balcas are disappointed that an agreement has not yet been reached through constructive discussion."
She continued: "Our current offer equates to more than twice the rate of inflation for the average employee. Balcas thinks this is a fair and reasonable offer. We are open to dialogue and we would urge employee representatives to engage in meaningful discussion to resolve this."
