The closing date for St. Mary's High School, Brollagh has been issued by the Education Authority.

A public notice, to be published in The Impartial Reporter, has detailed that the school will "discontinue with effect from August 31, 2020, or as soon as possible thereafter".

This is the fourth time since 2008 that the school has been earmarked for closure.

Parents of pupils at the school were left outraged in March, 2019 that they only found out via social media and media outlets of the proposal to close the school again.

In 2017, the Council for Catholic Maintained Schools (CCMS) withdrew its proposal to close the school in September 2018.

A copy of the Proposal and Case for Change may be inspected at the offices of the Education Authority located at 1 Hospital Road, Omagh, BT79 0AW, between the hours of 9.00am and 4.30pm and (Area Planning).

Any objections or support to this Proposal should be lodged with the Area Planning Policy Team, Department of Education, Rathgael House, Balloo Road, Bangor, Co Down, BT19 7PR or emailed to within two months of the date of publication of the notice. Any letters of objection or support may be published on the Department of Education’s website, with appropriate redactions, if they are included in full in the submission on which the outcome of the proposal is decided.
