Three out of the five available seats in Erne West have been filled with the return of Sinn Féin’s Anthony Feely and Independent Councillor Bernice Swift.
Both Councillors passed the quota at the third stage with transfers from the eliminated Independent Trevor Armstrong.
The DUP’s Carol Johnston was also eliminated.
For Bernice Swift it is straight into getting down and working on the issues affecting her voters in rural Fermanagh such as roads infrastructure, broadband and Brexit.
“I am absolutely thrilled and ecstatic to exceed the quota and I am delighted that all my voters have returned me to absolutely represent and be their strong voice as the rural independent for Erne West.
“On the doorsteps obviously issues have been the state of the roads, poor infrastructure, the absence and political stalemate with no central government and lack of investment coming to us here in the rural west. I will continue to be vocal again on all of the issues.”
Sinn Féin’s Chris McCaffrey is expected to become the youngest ever Councillor in Fermanagh and Omagh with the final seat to be fought out between Fionnuala Leonard (Sinn Féin) and Adam Gannon (SDLP) with the transfers from the DUP’s Carol Johnston possibly tipping the balance.
