Four pipers from County Fermanagh took part in one of the World’s most spectacular and prestigious musical festivals.

The Spasskaya Tattoo was staged on Moscow’s Red Square against the backdrop of the majestic walls of the Kremlin and took place from August 23 to the September 2.

Each evening the event attracted full houses of approximately ten thousand spectators to see and hear the most amazing musical presentations and displays from the performers.

The Fermanagh pipers performed as part of the International Celtic Pipes and Drums Band, made up of over eighty pipers and drummers from around the world. The band was founded in 2016 and is led by former Lisnaskea native, Pipe Major David Johnson, who has staged massed pipe band performances at Tattoos all over Europe.

This year the band performed alongside a large cast of Irish and Scottish dancers

Ray Hall from Enniskillen commented: “Taking part in the Tattoo is a wonderful experience for the musicians and the welcome we receive from the Russian people each year is tremendous.”

“Music indeed opens many doors,” he added.
