The cast of the Fermanagh BrightStarz were the talk of the town this summer with their 'BrightStarz Does Broadway' show in the Ardhowen back in June. On Saturday night the BrightStarz Broadway stars took to the red carpet for the premiere of their DVD and a gala dinner to celebrate the success of their show. The event which took place in the Killyhevlin Hotel hosted over 100 guests. The cast exuded Hollywood style as they arrived in limousines and walked the red carpet in tuxedos and glamorous dresses.

The Fermanagh BrightStarz completed their 4th production this year and the cast membership has grown to a 35 strong cast made up of adults from across the county with learning or physical disabilities. Patricia Goan, Chair of the Charity said: "Our show this year moved to a different level with our cast performing on stage without the support of volunteers, we couldn’t be any more proud than we are tonight. We have watched our cast members grow in confidence and skill this year. They have worked so hard and conquered many fears, they are truly brilliant. I couldn’t stand on stage alone and do what they do. They absolutely wowed the audience at the Ardhowen this year. Tonight is their night to celebrate the incredible, talented and accomplished cast that they are."

The BrightStarz commenced rehearsals for next year’s show last month and Siobhan O'Brien, Artistic Director along with Liz Smith, Choreographer and Ciara O'Flanagan, Musical Director are delighted to be working with the cast again. Siobhan said: "It is an honour and privilege to work with such talented people who really do know how to work hard for 40 weeks of the year but have fun while they are doing it."

Patricia Goan, Chair thanked all of the volunteers who so generously give up their time each week all year round. Patricia explained that as a small charity BrightStarz relies fully on these volunteers who between them give up over 2,000 hours of their time each year to make BrightStarz happen. She said: "BrightStarz is a wonderful example of the great community spirit in Fermanagh where busy people give time to others so generously and so freely. We are very lucky indeed."

Fermanagh BrightStarz is a registered charity for adults with disabilities working to change people’s perspectives in the arts community and switching them on to the creative talent and energy of people with disabilities, focussing on ability not disability.
