A harvest thanksgiving service has taken place at St. Aidan's High School in Derrylin which aimed at fostering good relations in the community.
It was, according to Principal Pat McTeggart, an opportunity “for the entire community to come together and give thanks for God’s goodness”.
Speaker David Spence from Tandragee told those gathered how “despite our sin and turning away from God, there was still a seat for us at his table if we should choose to come”.
The Rev Alastair Donaldson from the Church of Ireland in Kinawley and Holy Trinity Parish thanked St. Aidan's for hosting the service and noted that it was the first for the community and was a “resounding success”.
He thanked all those who supplied decorations, fruit, vegetables and food.
Mr. McTeggart said that it was fitting the service was in the school as “St. Aidan’s is a school at the heart of the community”.
“We are all part of the one community, Mr. Mc Teggart said.
“We are neighbours in every sense of the word and it is right and fitting that we help build friendships and foster good relations in the community,” he said.
