The thing that will catch your breath in this raw and heartfelt joint directorial effort by Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn is visible in both words of the title.
The ‘Love’ is clearly seen through the chemistry that Liam Neeson and Lesley Manville share, even through the most difficult of situations.
The performances of the two, both individually and collectively, cannot go unnoticed, with Manville in particular showing her talent for the role.
The ‘Ordinary’ is what makes this movie so extraordinary.
So much of the beautiful ordinariness is a result of a non-clichéd and beautifully worked script, from playwright Owen McCafferty, making his motion picture screenplay debut. The well-paced and simple lines shared back and forth between the two stars perfectly encapsulate that of a long-married couple who are being tested to the core.
The subtle scoring of this tale also adds massively to the emotion that we are being shown.
Ordinary Love is a delicately, true-to-life tale of an adversity that so many face, making it a must-see experience.
