Firefighters tackled blazes in the Ashdale area of Enniskillen on Sunday morning (February 2) following suspected arson of two vehicles.

Responding to a call at 4.56am, one appliance from Enniskillen Fire Station attended the incident where a van and a car were on fire.

A spokesman for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) stated: “Firefighters were called to a van and a car on fire in Ashdale.”

“Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation and the incident was dealt with by 5.27am.”

This was the second vehicle fire in Enniskillen over the weekend, with firefighters previously attending a blaze in the early hours of Saturday, February 1.

Following a call at 1.48am, one fire service appliance from Enniskillen Fire Station attended the incident on the Lough Shore Road, Enniskillen.

Stating that the fire was “deliberate”, the NIFRS spokesman said: “Firefighters were called to a car on fire on the Lough Shore Road in Enniskillen. They wore breathing apparatus and used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire was deliberate ignition.”
