FIRST Minister Arlene Foster visited St. Kevin's College, Lisnaskea this morning (Friday, September 25) for a first-hand tour of the facilities and to see how the school was coping with Coronavirus guidelines.

Mrs. Foster started her tour of the school with a temperature check from one of the members of staff, who held a temperature gun to the First Minister's forehead to check if her temperature was suitable to enter school. Mrs. Foster then sanitized her hands, and signed in electronically.

Of the need to sign in for her visit, school Principal Gary Kelly joked: "The First Minister is no different to anyone else."

Mrs. Foster was greeted by Mr. Kelly, and the Chair of the Board of Governors, Thomas O'Reilly, as well as Head Boy, Niall McCaffrey, and Head Girl, Aoife Wray, who were all wearing facemasks with the St. Kevin's logo and crest on the front.

The First Minister was then taken on a tour of the school to see some of the facilities. She visited a music lesson which was being held in a library, and a Spanish classroom where Year 8 pupils treated Mrs. Foster to a song on the eve of European Day of Languages.

She was then guided through the school to see a former storeroom that has been utilised as a classroom in order to meet Covid-19 restrictions and guidance.

Finally, Mrs. Foster was brought to the assembly hall and stage where a group of girls from the Performing Arts classes performed, 'My Favourite Things', from the musical, The Sound of Music.

The First Minister joked that the children had good sources, as "The Sound of Music is my favourite film".

Mr. Kelly and some students then gave Mrs. Foster a presentation on the school community's need for a new building to cope with the high enrolment numbers as a result of the school's academic success.
