FERMANAGH and Omagh District Council are urging people to 'Leave No Trace' following a number of recent reports of littering in parks and open spaces across the district.

A Council spokesman said: "We've received several reports in recent days highlighting increased littering in our parks and open spaces across the district.

"Littering is not only harmful to the environment and spoils its beauty, but it also places extra strain on our staff during this already challenging time. Leave no trace and keep our district beautiful," he added.

The Council is advising users of parks or open spaces for exercise, in line with Covid-19 restrictions, to put their litter in a public bin or to bring it home.

Pet owners are urged to clean up after their pet and dispose of dog waste in a public litter bin, or bring it home to dispose of in their black or green landfill bin.

"If a public park is busy, please visit an alternative open space or visit at a quieter time, if possible," added the Council spokesman.
