Belfast-based Enniskillen singer John Garrity has recorded a special cover of 'Forever Young' in memory of Noah Donohoe.

John, who has made a name for himself busking in the streets of Belfast, told The Impartial Reporter that he decided to record the song to help continue to raise awareness of the Justice For Noah campaign.

14-year-old Noah was discovered dead in a storm drain in Belfast six days after being reported missing in June 2020. The investigation into his death is ongoing.

John explained that he took it upon himself to record the song.

"I’d obviously done the song ‘Dancing in the Sky’ for the time that Noah was found and I thought to myself that I could maybe do something else, something different," said John, adding: "We’ve moved on a couple of months and I wanted to raise more awareness so people still remember Noah and remember what his mother is going through."

John recorded the song 'Forever Young' while he was recording music for his new album, which he plans to release in March to coincide with his 30th birthday. The song in memory of Noah will be included as one of the tracks on the album.

He said: "We were just in the studio one day and we were talking. It came up in the news about Noah’s case coming back up in January and we decided that we would raise a bit of awareness. We played around with a couple of different songs and this is the one that we chose."

"It’s a sad song and carries across the emotions. We just want people to remember Noah," John added.

Talking about the positive response to the song, John explained that within 24 hours of it being uploaded, it had received around 160,000 views.

"People have been really kind with their words and Fiona herself [Noah’s mum] was messaging me and said how much she loved the song.

"They’re obviously searching for justice and my part of it is totally music, a bit of comfort for some people," John told this newspaper.
