THIS year’s International Women’s Day – marked annually on March 8 – will be celebrated at a virtual event organised by the Rotary Club of Enniskillen.

The Rotary International theme for 2020-2021 is ‘Rotary opens opportunities', says Enniskillen Rotarian Jenny McCrea, who chairs the Club’s Vocational Committee, and is busy making plans for the special gathering, which will be held online using Zoom virtual meetings.

She is looking forward to welcoming inspirational figure Baroness May Blood as their guest speaker at the online event, which will be held from 1-2.30pm on March 8.

Jenny highlights that the afternoon celebration is open to everyone – including any organisation or group – who wants to join them to mark International Women’s Day – a global day which this year has the theme, ‘Choose to Challenge’.

In addition to their highly-regarded guest speaker Baroness Blood, who is a well-known and active figure in Northern Ireland, the event will also be addressed by the President of the Rotary Club of Enniskillen, Heather Ellis, who will join Jenny in extending a welcome to their guests.

No stranger to organising International Women’s Day gatherings, Jenny, has been holding this annual celebration on behalf of the Enniskillen Club for the past 10 years, but this year will be her first virtual gathering owing to the coronavirus restrictions.
