A 27-year-old man had his contest adjourned on Monday after his mother informed his lgal representatives that he was displaying Covid-19 symptoms.

Ryan Masterson, with an address of Cornagrade Road, Enniskillen was due to contest a criminal damage charge at Enniskillen Magistrates Court.

A civilian witness and two police officers were present in the court in anticipation of the contest proceeding.

When District Judge Steven Keown was told by Masterson's barrister that the 27 year old was experiencing chest pain and a cough and needed to isolate, he replied: "The old Monday morning Covid."

Judge Keown expressed furstration in the delays that Covid has had on the judicial process but accepted they were expected given the ongoing pandemic.

Masterson's barrister, Gavyn Cairns said it was the first time he had to request an adjourment for this reason.

Judge Keown conceded that some leeway had to be shown, adding that it was frustrating to find out on the day of contest.
