SINN Féin has launched a Bill to make suicide prevention training a requirement for frontline staff in public bodies and Government departments.
Speaking of the Bill and how it would impact on such staff, Jemma Dolan MLA said: “These staff work directly with the public every single day and it’s vital that they have basic awareness and training.
“This Bill will allow those who have not already received suicide prevention training to receive it.
“Given the tragic rates of people taking their own life across the North, this training could make a real difference, and could save lives.
“I would urge people to take part in the consultation on this Bill, and to help get this training rolled out to workers. They can fill the survey in at: surveymonkey.co.uk/r/53FLCG8.”
