Firefighters were last night (Thursday)  called to the scene of a large accidental fire in Ballinamallard.

 

Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) were called at 10.38pm to Makenny Road, Ballinamallard where 100 tonnes of loose coal were on fire.  Four fire service appliances were tasked to the scene. Two appliances from Enniskillen Fire Station, one appliance from Belleek Fire Station and one appliance from Irvinestown Fire Station attended the incident

A NIFRS spokespersons said: "Firefighters were called to reports of approximately 100 tonnes of loose coal on fire at an industrial property.

"Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire.

"They were assisted by the owner of the property using a mechanical shovel and a forklift to remove the coal. The cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental ignition and the incident was dealt with by 12.37am on Friday 16 April 2021."
