WITH the examination season about to begin, the Trade Union at Fermanagh College of Further Education has threatened further industrial action to protest at what its sees at the ‘unnecessary sacking’ of four lecturers.

Four lecturers are to be made redundant at the college in August. When the news was broken to staff, a decision was taken by the union, with a unanimous vote of 53 to seven, to take strike action.

This week, the atmosphere among college staff was described as “angry and disappointed” at the management’s decision to sack four lecturers with “50 years’ exemplary service”.

Staff at the college are now committed to a programme of industrial action.
