CLOGHER Diocese Mothers' Union has released a new DVD to rebuild hope and confidence in the local community.

The DVD/CD includes hymns sung by local artists, an interview with the diocesan president, prayers from Rev. Charles Eames, diocesan chaplain, and a reflection from the Bishop of Clogher, Rev. Canon Dr. Ian Ellis.

Speaking on the DVD, Irene Boyd, diocesan president for Clogher Mothers' Union, said: “The project has been planned to bring hope and confidence back to the Mothers' Union members in the diocese.

"So many people, not just Mother's Union members, have been deeply impacted by the pandemic and lockdown restrictions.

“Many of the membership are [aged] 70 and over, and have remained isolated in their own homes, shielding, afraid to go out, go to church and mix with others.

“Thankfully, some are gaining confidence now that they have had two [Covid] vaccinations, but there is much anxiety and sadness still around.

“Some of this relates to the inability of the members to join physically with those who were bereaved or with those who have come through illness.

“The project seeks to bring solace, and comfort, and uplift, and [offer] encouragement."

Speaking of the aims of the project, Mrs. Boyd said: “The recording seeks to encourage people to rebuild hope with the familiar words of the hymns sung and played, as they listen to the prayers and the uplifting reflection from God's word.

"Then they can build confidence in their life through their personal Christian faith as they rest on the finished work of Jesus Christ, Saviour, Redeemer and Friend.”

The artists featured on the DVD will sing familiar hymns, old and new.

The artists are Roy Crowe, Diane Wright-Kendrick, Gillian Rutherford with Alan Ferguson and Michelle Elliott, Marina Elliott with her family and father, Dean Ferguson, The Bloomfield family, Revd. Mark Gallagher and some bagpipe music from Isaac Leathem.

A launch drive-in concert will take place at 8pm tomorrow, Friday, May 21 in The Ulster Farms Mart car park at Lackaboy, Enniskillen. The CD/DVD is priced £10.
