AT 9AM on Saturday, May 15 – the exact time that the Royal British Legion (RBL) was formed 100 years ago at the Cenotaph in London – a small number of members of the Irvinestown branch of the Royal British Legion assembled by the war graves in Irvinestown.

To mark the centenary of the formation of the RBL, the branch members gathered for a small service in the midst of the final resting place of the many brave American and Canadian airmen who paid the supreme sacrifice.

Branch Chairman, William Irvine, read a message from the National Chairman of the RBL, and Branch Secretary Irene Kerrigan read a message from Her Majesty, The Queen.

An act of Remembrance took place, and prayers were led by Canon Paul Thompson, with a wreath also being laid at the Cross of Sacrifice by Mr. Irvine.
