A SERVICE of Confirmation was held in Belleek Parish Church on Sunday, June 13, following the postponement from March, 2020 of the original planned service, due to Covid restrictions.

The candidates were Avril Thompson, Claire Thompson, Glen Brock and Sarah Johnston.

The service was led by the Rural Dean, Rev. Canon Alan Irwin and he welcomed the newly installed Bishop of Clogher, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Ian Ellis and his wife, Heather.

He also welcomed the parents and godparents of the candidates. For his address, Bishop Ian used a bunch of keys as his visual aid and told the young people that the first key – the key of the front door – was important as it symbolised family and those who had nurtured them through life to the present.

The next key was the car key, which would give them freedom, and the last key wasn’t on the bunch, but it was the key to their heart.

The organist was Mrs. Sadie Moore, and the church wardens were Rachel Love and Robert Johnston.

Canon Irwin presented the four candidates with a Bible at the end of the service.
