DESPITE objections from police, a man who is facing burglary and driving charges has been released on bail.

Dallon Millar (21), of Kilmacormick Avenue, Enniskillen, is facing the charge of burglary relating to an incident on a date between October 1, 2016, and November 7, 2016.

He is also facing charges of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, theft of a vehicle, using a motor vehicle without insurance and driving while disqualified concerning an incident that took place over November 30 and December 1, 2020.

A police officer told the court they objected to bail being granted, believing Millar will re-offend, and also he had demonstrated a “total disregard” to the court and police.

The officer also felt there was a chance of Millar interfering with witnesses as the bail address given was the home of the person whose car he allegedly stole. This person is now in a relationship with the defendant.

The officer added a behavioural report from Maghaberry Prison, where Millar was in custody, revealed a wrap containing cocaine had been discovered during a search of his cell, he had damaged prison property, threatened to “cut staff up”, threatened other inmates, and attempted to incite inmates to go on hunger strike.

It was also believed that he was withholding his medication to sell it, the court heard.

Millar’s barrister, Ciaran Roddy said the defendant had served his sentence with the length of time he had been in custody, and with committal for the driving offences coming soon, it would be in Millar’s interest to engage as there would be a “target” on him if these matters were outstanding.

Deputy District Judge Anne Marshall granted bail of £250, with Millar not allowed to be in any type of car, and ordered to abide by a curfew and to wear a tag.

All matters were adjourned until July 19.
