Fermanagh South Tyrone MLA Jemma Dolan welcomed Deputy First Minister, and Sinn Féin Vice President, Michelle O'Neill to Enniskillen during her recent visit to see first-hand a number of key developments in the town.

Speaking after the visit, during which the pair visited Enniskillen Library and the proposed site for a footbridge linking the new Erne Campus of South West College (SWC) to the island of Enniskillen town, Miss Dolan said: "It was brilliant to have Michelle O'Neill in Enniskillen to showcase some of the town's exciting future projects.

"The staff at Enniskillen Library, along with their colleagues in Libraries NI, have done tremendous work over the years to ensure that the redevelopment of the site is brought to fruition.

"It has been a pleasure to help the staff at the library to work to secure funding for the new build over the past number of years.

"Being able to bring Michelle to the library to show her progress on such a great addition to the book-loving residents of Fermanagh was great.

"The Libraries NI staff were able to show Michelle their exciting plans for the new build on the existing site."

Miss Dolan also discussed bringing the Deputy First Minister to the site of the proposed footbridge to link the new SWC Erne Campus to Enniskillen's island centre – an addition to the town's infrastructure that the local MLA has been calling for.

She said: "Another exciting opportunity for the county town is a footbridge to link the new college build to Elizabeth Street and on up to the High Street.

"This, of course, is at a much earlier stage of development, but as I said to Michelle, 'With hard work and lobbying, [the delivery of the footbridge] is very doable'.

"It was great that Michael McAllister, the Chief Executive Officer, of South West College, could join us at the site. Unfortunately, Michelle was caught for time, otherwise she would have loved to have called up the the newly-built Erne campus for a site visit.

"It was great that when the Deputy First Minister was in town, we could show her these exciting projects."
