Michael Kerr, the man who brought Enniskillen Rangers back to the top table in Junior football in the province, has resigned from his position as manager, the club announced today Tuesday.

Kerr who guided Rangers to three Irish Junior Cup wins in a row from 2017 to 2019 as well as back to back Mercer Cups in 2018 and 2019 has been described this week by Enniskillen Rangers as the "most successful manager" in the club's history.

Indeed, it was almost four Junior Cup wins in succession only for Rangers to lose on penalties in their historic bid in 2020.

Kerr informed the club of his decision over the weekend following his side's defeat to Strathroy Harps on Saturday, their first defeat of what has been a decent start to the new campaign.

When Kerr guided Rangers to the Junior Cup in 2017 it was the club's first trophy since 1999.

Players were informed of the decision today as Rangers now look to appoint a successor.

Enniskillen Rangers chairman John Ross Armstrong commented: "It is with regret that Enniskillen Rangers Football Club has accepted Michael’s resignation from his duties, he has had the full support of the committee and we wish him good health and enjoyment going forward.

"Michael has been a lifelong club man and we look forward to this continuing. Michael will go down in Enniskillen Rangers history as the most successful manager the club has had and for that he has his place firmly in the clubs heart and history books."
