The Patrick family from Monea (inset) lit up the small screen on Sunday night as they joined Gino D’Acampo in ITV’s quiz, ‘Family Fortunes’.

Parents John and Alison Patrick were joined by their daughter, Zoe; her fiancée, Issac Farrell; and son-in-law, Chris McHugh, on the popular quiz game show on Sunday evening.

The Patricks filmed the episode back in last December, after Zoe filled in an application form last November and the family were interviewed the next day.

Speaking to The Impartial Reporter, Zoe said: “As a family we have always watched Family Fortunes from when I was a child

“We have always said that we needed to go and do the show! At the end of every episode, Daddy would say ‘We need to get onto that show’,” she added.

ITV cameras headed to the family home to film an introduction to the family, with filming taking ten hours for them all.

All the family enjoyed the filming in London. Zoe said: “We all really enjoyed the show, every bit of it.

“The day of filming in the studio was a real pinch-me moment, being in the actual Family Fortunes studio was an experience we will never forget!

“I remember looking around, thinking to myself, ‘How are we actually here?’

“We must have been filming for about an hour and a half; it was great craic and the other family were so lovely to take part with.”

Although the Patrick family didn’t take home the jackpot prize, they still received prizes.

Zoe said: “The hair bundle I won had a value of £600, and our bikes [one each] were worth £500 each.

“I thought of the filming as an all-expenses paid holiday, which was well needed, for we were in a lockdown at that time.”

The family said that some funny moments with the host had been cut from the show due to the hour-long run time, including a discussion on presenter Gino’s ability to calve a cow.

Zoe said: “Daddy made a comment on Gino’s small hands, saying he would be good for calving a cow.”

Indeed, the presenter was very interested in agriculture, Zoe continued: “There was a moment when Gino and daddy were complaining about how expensive tractors were, saying he had just bought one himself.”

The Patricks are the first family from Fermanagh to take part in the programme. Who knows who may follow in their footsteps?
