A MAN who caused €1,000-worth of damage to a Range Rover has been convicted of criminal damage and common assault.

On August 2, 2020, at around 8pm, it was reported two males were acting aggressively at East Bridge Street, Enniskillen.

A video was shown of Louis Daniel Donohoe (19), of Silverstream, Derrylin, kicking the wing mirror of a Range Rover and causing significant damage.

The defendant then slapped a car as it drove past, and when the injured party got out Donohoe became aggressive and lunged at the injured party, pushing him.

The injured party got back into the car and drove further up the street before parking. Donohoe came up to the passenger window banging it and calling the female passenger a "bitch".

Niall Bogue, representing Donohoe, described his client's action as "not great behaviour", and when asked by District Judge Steven Keown if Donohoe was "off his head", Mr. Bogue said Donohoe had "very little recollection".

In terms of damage, Mr. Bogue said his client could have picked a cheaper vehicle, to which Judge Keown asked: "Has he been saving up?"

Judge Keown handed Donohoe a 12-month conditional discharge, and ordered him to pay £850 in compensation, warning him if he comes before the court within the next year, it "won't be a good outcome".
