Louis McTeggart, a singer/songwriter from Enniskillen who is currently based in Derry-Londonderry, is releasing his new single, ‘I Used To Dance’, on January 28.

An accomplished and talented musician and songwriter who has travelled the world performing, recording and collaborating for more than 20 years, Louis is now excited to release what he feels is the best song he has written “in a long time”.

Louis penned ‘I Used To Dance’ during the second lockdown of 2020 after watching the viral video of Marta Gonzalez, an Alzheimer’s sufferer who was filmed dancing along beautifully to ‘Swan Lake’ in the Muro De Alcoy care home in Valencia, Spain in 2019.

When the the music started, Marta came to life, which brought Louis to tears and he felt she served as a beacon of hope in a time of great sadness and uncertainty. Unfortunately, Marta died not long after the video was shot.

Despite early speculation that Marta was a prima ballerina with the New York Ballet in the1960s, it turned out that the only solid evidence anyone could find suggested that at one time Marta was a choreographer who had her pieces performed in Cuba and America, proving to be an inspirational lady inspiring an inspirational song.

‘I Used To Dance’ will be available on all streaming and music download platforms including Spotify, Apple Music and Amazon.

It was recorded with Peter Doherty in his studios in Strabane, and Louis’ music video was shot and edited by Gavin Kelly, which will be available on YouTube and other video streaming services on Friday, January 21.
