There has been widespread sadness following the death of Mrs. Florence Ena Elizabeth Moore whose life came to a peaceful conclusion on Friday, October 22, 2021 at South West Acute Hospital after a brief illness.

Flo (as she was widely known) died as she lived: surrounded by her sons and experiencing the peace of God.

Flo was born on March 19, 1941 at Clabby to Alex and Margaret Woods, and was sister to the late Henry, Jean, the late Pearl, and David. The family lived on Lisgoole Abbey Estate before moving to Enniskillen and subsequently to Castlecoole.

Flo was educated at Jones Memorial Primary School and the Technical College before working as a bookkeeper at Whaley’s Bakery for ten years. She then worked for Cathcart’s until marrying her late husband John on March 16, 1968.

They set up home initially at Bellanaleck before moving to Silverhill in 1974 where Flo resided until her death, having been predeceased by John in 1994. They had three sons, Jonathan (Mary), who now lives in London, David (Gillian), Enniskillen, and Ian (Caroline), Lisbellaw.

Flo worked in the family business for over fifty years along-side her husband and then sons, David and Ian, where she enjoyed dealing with customers and was an adept businesswoman. Despite being 80 years of age, Flo was still at her desk in Lakeland Fuels six days a week right up to being admitted to hospital on October 3.

She was not only committed to her family and the business, but most of all to her Saviour, having been saved by the grace of God as a young girl at a Gospel Mission near Culkey. In her youth she regularly attended prayer meetings in the Moore home at Bellanaleck before becoming active in the Salvation Army.

After marrying John, she joined Bethel Free Presbyterian Church, Enniskillen, where she worshipped, taught Sunday School, and led children’s meetings for over 40 years.

Flo was a dedicated and supportive wife to John, a loving mother, and a devoted grandmother to Andrew, Anna, and Julia (Lisbellaw) and Caroline and Olivia (London.)

Flo’s funeral took place on October 25, 2021 at Bethel. The service was conducted by Rev. James Porter, assisted by Rev. John Gray, with burial at Breandrum Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were carried out respectfully by Marcus Madill. The family also very much appreciated the excellent care Flo received in the SWAH cardiac and stroke units.

While her family is devastated by her passing, they can look back on Flo’s life with fond memories of a woman who dedicated her all to her faith, family, and business. Truly she could say, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” (2nd Timothy 4 v 7.)
