It has been all go at St. John the Baptist Primary School, Roscor.
The pupils and staff have been busy with a whole host of events including preparations for St. Brigid’s Day (February 1) as children and family members gathered to take part in making St. Brigid’s Crosses.
The event was hosted on Wednesday (January 19) as the school marked Catholic School’s Week. The school invited grandparents, parents, and special people to their school.

Principal, Miss Aideen McGarrigle said: “We celebrated the event in the outdoors and provided the opportunity to make St. Bridgid’s day crosses together.
“This provided for a lovely atmosphere of love and making memories to last a lifetime.
“We are so thankful to all our special people for coming. We hope they had a lovely morning in our great company! Thank you to Fr. McGourty for taking the time to come and bless our St. Bridgid’s day crosses. In St. John the Baptist P.S, we really are blessed with the best.”

The children of St. John the Baptist then entertained all the special people in their lives with a self-composed song, to the tune of smash hit song, Wagon Wheel followed by a cup of tea.
The memory of the special day will now be saved in a short video which the school are working on.
The children took great delight this week in showcasing their brand NEW ICT suite and Library. The room is fitted with an all new state of the art Promethean Activ Panel. This is one of four brand new Promethean Activ Panels fitted in the school as a result of the popular fundraiser ‘Cash or Cow.’

Miss McGarrigle added: “The children love their brand new library area and software. The children can utilise the online app to scan in and check out their library books. There is great fun and excitement and love of reading evident which is fantastic.”
The staff and children of the school have thanked everyone who attended and contributed to their their Outdoor Christmas Market on December 10 2021 raising over £1,700 for their school.
The Outdoor Market was pleasing to the eye with a huge array of gazebos donated by Patsy McCauley Funeral Undertakers, Belleek and Peter Carty Funeral Undertakers, Garrison. These were complimented by lights donated from MAC plant, Belleek and the magic touch of Christopher Taylor.
Thanking everyone for their support, Miss McGarrigle added: “I was delighted and so appreciative to see our event being so well supported.”
