A driver who was observed swerving over the road by police officers has been banned from driving.

On January 19, at around 8.30pm, police were on mobile patrol on the Irvinestown Road, Enniskillen when they came across a Ford Fiesta ahead of them.

The car – being driven by Deborah Patricia Wilson (41), of Lismore Lane, Omagh – was swerving across the road and driving in the middle of the road.

At Trory Roundabout, the vehicle travelled on the Killadea Road, again swerving, and reaching excess speeds, before police indicated for it to stop.

When officers spoke to Wilson, she admitted she had consumed alcohol and she failed her preliminary breath test. Wilson was arrested and made no reply when cautioned before being taken to Omagh Police Station where she gave an evidential reading of 53mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath.

Michael Fahy, Wilson’s solicitor, told Enniskillen Magistrates Court said the allegations about his client’s driving were not accepted, and there had been no subsequent charges related to her driving.

He added Wilson had no previous convictions and asked for credit for her guilty plea at the earliest opportunity.

District Judge Steven Keown disqualified Wilson from driving for 12 months and fined her £250, commenting that it was unfortunate her record had been “blemished”.
