Widespread sadness has been expressed following the death of Mr. Kenneth Alfred Betty on February 14, 2022.

Ken was born in Silverhill, Enniskillen, Fermanagh on August 15, 1951 to John Betty and Evelyn Dunbar.

A lifelong resident of Enniskillen, as a boy he attended the Model School and later apprenticed as an auto mechanic.

A descendant of Betty Coachbuilders of Willoughby Place, Ken followed in the family tradition by being the fourth generation continuing in the motor vehicle repair business.

The second oldest business in Enniskillen was established in 1848 by his great-grandfather, Samuel Betty, continuing through his grandfather William A. Betty and father John Betty. He assumed ownership of the business upon his father's passing in June 1985 and lived in the ancestral home.

Of a family of three, only his two daughters survive him, Kerri (Brandon Singer) of Florida and Sarah (Daniel Hunter) of New York state. His son, Simon, predeceased him on December 12, 1997. A granddaughter, Reagan Taylor, resides in Florida. Ken is survived by his sister, Avril and her husband Ken Graham of Ballinamallard. He will be greatly missed by many friends and acquaintances.

A quiet, unassuming man, Ken loved cars, motorsports, motorcycles, attending rallies and anything mechanical. One of his prized projects was the restoration of an MG Midget which his friend Roy Gibson played a big part in the restoration to a very high standard.

Funeral arrangements were by W.T. Morrison, Darling Street, Enniskillen. Interment followed at Rossorry Churchyard.

The family is deeply appreciative of the care and attention Ken received at the South West Acute Hospital (SWAH) and Graan Abbey long term care home as well as the support received from friends.
