Tributes have been paid to the late John Woods, who died following a tragic accident in Lisnaskea on Friday night (March 4).
Sinn Fein MLA Áine Murphy has said that the community is in a state of deep shock after the death of Mr. Woods, who was a Lisnaskea local.
The Fermanagh and South Tyrone MLA said: “The community is absolutely devastated to hear of the sad news.
“John was an absolute gentleman. The Woods family are very well known and respected in the local community. They are ‘the salt of the earth’.
“My thoughts and prayers are with his wife Breege, his sons, daughters, grandchildren, entire family circle and friends at this very sad and difficult time.”
A spokesperson for Fermanagh Ladies GFA also paid tribute to Mr. Woods on behalf of the club: "We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of John Woods Snr, Lisnaskea, beloved father of our past county stars Shauna and Claire."
The spokesperson added that club members' thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Woods' family and friends at this sad time.
