Questions have been raised this afternoon in Enniskillen as the Union flag remains missing from it's flag pole on Enniskillen Courthouse on what is the Queen's 96th birthday.

Today (Thursday) is one of the designated days when the Union flag must be flown from central government buildings in Northern Ireland. The flag is however flying on the grounds of the Jobs & Benefits Office in Enniskillen.

One of those who has queried the abscense of the flag was DUP Fermanagh South Tyrone Assembly election candidate Deborah Erskine.

Also weighing in on the issue was UUP election candidate Tom Elliott who said:"Today is listed as one of the designated days for the flying of the Union Flag on Government buildings as it is the Queen’s birthday. Given the esteem in which The Queen is held I am fully supportive of this special day being marked."

“I don't know why this duty has not been fulfilled at Enniskillen Courthouse today and I have asked the Department of Justice for an explanation.”

The Impartial Reporter has contacted The Department of Justice for clarity on this issue.
