Cadet Cpl Christopher Hunter, from A Company, Enniskillen Open Detachment (cap badge, Royal Irish Regiment), who is also the Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for Fermanagh, was one of the many people who attended the recent service of thanksgiving for the Duke of Edinburgh at Westminster Abbey, London.

Her Majesty, The Queen, led mourners and guests at the service for Prince Philip, who died last year aged 99.

Cadet Corporal Hunter (17), a student at Castlederg High School, is currently involved in his Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award through the Army Cadet Force, and was selected by Fermanagh’s Lord Lieutenant, Viscount Brookeborough, to represent the Cadet Force in Northern Ireland at the service, where he joined eight other cadets from across the UK to prepare for the event.

Speaking following the day’s events, Cadet Corporal Christopher Hunter said: “This has been a truly memorable experience and I am so proud to have represented Northern Ireland Cadets.”
