Footballing friends will come together on Saturday at Byrne Park, Lisnarick to play in the Lewis Keogh Memorial Match.

The game will see local clubs Lisnarick and NFC Kesh involved as they come up against Leeds outfit Headingley AFC.

The late Lewis Keogh took his own life in 2013 due to a serious gambling addiction.

At the time of his death Lewis was living in England and had played for Headingley AFC as well as being a part of the club's management committee.

His death came as a great shock to his family as well as all at the club as they had been unaware of his gambling addiction and they have been keen to travel to Fermanagh to play a match in his memory.

"Headingley AFC have been a great support to the family and they wanted to play a game in Lewis' memory. They have tried before to come over and play this game but it had to be cancelled due to Covid," explained Pete. "It will be a game of two halves with the first half against Lisnarick and the second against a side made up of former Kesh players. Lewis would have lived in Lisnarick but played most of his football for Kesh and the Kesh side will be a lot of those guys who played with Lewis. It will be a poignant occasion but it will be comforting too."

Lewis's parents, Pete and Sadie, helped to launch the Gambling With Lives charity two years ago and the match will also raise awareness and donations for this.

The Headingley AFC players are staying in Mahon's Hotel and after the game, which kicks off at 2.30pm, everybody will retreat back to the hotel for a meal and drinks.
