SIGHTS and sounds of yesteryear were to the fore at Cornmarket Yard in Lisnaskea recently thanks to a great ‘Olde Tyme Market Day’.

Organised by Lisnaskea Historical Society, the event drew young and old alike to sample some old-world fair customs, with a wide range of heritage-related events and attractions to take in.

Artisans and experts alike demonstrated several once commonplace and indeed, vital trades and skills, such as blacksmithing, yarn spinning, basket weaving and much more, which are still kept alive to this very day, and still in use.

In addition, there were some fun games to play, treats to eat, demonstrations of heritage-related crafts and skills, and plenty of fun and entertainment, with live music and children from three local primary schools helping to create an informative and upbeat atmosphere, as plenty of people of all ages dressed up in clothes from the past.

The Olde Tyme Market Day proved a great success, with locals and visitors echoing Lisnaskea Historical Society’s sentiments in praising the great and informative community event.
