An Enniskillen man has been handed a suspended sentence after being convicted of criminal damage.

It relates to an incident on March 13, 2020, in the Derrin Park area of Enniskillen.

A court heard police received a report of three windows in a property being damaged.

When they assessed the scene, a small pool of blood was detected and some of the glass was smeared with blood as it appeared the person who broke the windows had cut themselves in the process.

Forensic analysis matched the blood to that of Nathan Martin Maguire (21), of Derrin Park, Enniskillen and he was arrested.

He made a full admission to breaking the windows during an interview with the police.

His barrister, Éamann Donnelly, said his client came before the court with a relevant record but asked that the court not interfere with a community service order he was currently completing.

Mr. Donnelly said Maguire had been at the property and had got into a slight disagreement with the tenant and under the influence of alcohol broke the windows.

He added Maguire wanted to apologise for his behaviour.

Deputy District Judge Trevor Browne said the incident had crossed the custody threshold and that putting somebody's windows through is a very frightening thing to go through.

He handed Maguire a three-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months and ordered him to pay compensation of £252.10.

He warned Maguire he was in danger of going to prison and would if it happened again.
