An Enniskillen woman has recently picked up her OBE award from Windsor Castle, following a delay caused by the pandemic.

Marie McHugh travelled to Windsor Castle alongside her brother, Sean McHugh,to receive her OBE.

A former student of Mount Lourdes Grammar School, Marie was awarded her OBE in the 2020 New Year’s Honours for services to higher education and business development; however, the ceremony was delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Marie is a lecturer at Ulster University, Jordanstown and had previously served as Dean of the Ulster University Business School from 2009 – 2016.

Prior to becoming Dean in 2009, Marie was Head of the Business School’s Department of Management and Leadership from 2001-2009.

Alongside her work in Northern Ireland, Marie has been a visiting Distinguished Scholar at the University of Nebraska, USA, and the University of Halmstad, Sweeden.

She is also a Visiting Professor at Hebei Geo University in China.

In addition to her roles at Ulster University, Marie is a member of the Strategic Advisory Network of the UKRI’s Economic and Social Research Council, the UK Council of the Institute of Directors (IoD), and also of the IoD NI Committee, and she is Editor of the Leadership and Organizational Development Journal.

Marie was Chair and President of the British Academy of Management in 2010 and 2012 respectively, and was elected as a Fellow of the Academy in 2013.

She has received numerous accolades throughout her career, including a Special Achievement Award from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development in 2014.

In November, 2015, Marie received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Annual UTV Business Awards.
