The organiser of the monthly ReLove community market is "overwhelmed" by the market's success.

Linda Johnston, who recently held the third ReLove market at the Ulster Farmers Mart on Saturday, July 6, is pleased with all of the feedback she has received from vendors and customers of the market.

Speaking to The Impartial Reporter, Linda said: "There is room for growth. And I think, as it gets more well known, I think more people will pop up."

The stalls offered at the market vary from month to month, Linda explained, adding: "I would say there's more 'reloved' goods. Yes, there are crafts there, but it's not a craft fair, and it's not a car boot sale.

"So it's trying to get something fresh and a bit more like St. George's Market in Belfast."

She continued: "I think the stallholders who sell crafts really benefit because the people who come to ReLove are looking for whatever, so they are getting a different group of people who are coming.

"I have got about 18 regular stallholders who have rebooked every month. I just love variety and things that people would not normally see."

Explaining the idea behind the market, which has now become a much anticipated event in the community, Linda said: "I had thought last year it was a good way of people being able to recycle their stuff, and get a little bit of money for it.

"I went around a few of the markets last year in Cavan, Monaghan and Bundoran, and this year I thought to myself, 'Why can't we just have it in Enniskillen so that people from here don't have to travel and people have the opportunity to come to a market here?'," she added.

Feedback has been good, laughed Linda, as she recalled: "I'm really chuffed that the feedback has been so positive! There is all different kinds of feedback – we have had people come to look who want to do a stall, but want to see how it works, and maybe they are nervous.

"There are some people who might want to sell clothes or household goods and they've never done a market before in their lives, so I just try and be encouraging to them, while for other people, it is an opportunity to showcase what they have in an environment where it won't cost them an absolute fortune to try it out."

The market has continued to evolve and Linda is delighted that local band, The Hand Me Downs, will perform at next month's ReLove Community Market on September 3, and she is looking forward to bringing new ideas to the markets for the autumn and the winter.
