There is plenty of variety coming up at the Ardhowen Theatre this week.

On Thursday, October 6 at 8pm, the Ardhowen presents Simon & Garfunkel Through The Years. Critically acclaimed as one of the greatest tribute shows in the world, this show, fronted by Dan Haynes and Pete Richards, is a masterpiece in musicianship, which perfectly recreates the unmistakable sound of Simon & Garfunkel. Featuring all the iconic songs, including The Sound of Silence, Mrs Robinson, The Boxer and the smash hit Bridge Over Troubled Water.

The Fermanagh Live Arts Festival kicks off on Thursday, October 6 with a wonderful programme of cultural events taking place in various venues around Enniskillen. The Ardhowen is delighted to host several of these events including Seamus O’Rourke in The Handyman on Friday, October 7. Seamus O’Rourke is back with this one-man show sharing his unique brand of observational comedy, which explores friendship, relationships and how best to get noticed on your last day. The Handyman is a hilariously funny and poignant poetic look at small-town life in rural Ireland. Please note this show contains strong language and is suitable for over 18’s only.

Harness the power of your imagination and creative writing skills with Bernie McGill in a two-hour writing workshop on Saturday, October 8 at 10am. This will be a practical workshop on the everyday craft of writing with the aim of sparking ideas for new work. You can also join Bernie for the Fermanagh Live Book Club on Saturday at 2pm, discussing her newly published collection of stories, This Train Is For (released by Alibi Press).

Richard Pierce has been involved in painting all his life and he is particularly fascinated by self-portraits. In his lecture titled Behind the Eyes, Richard will entertain the audience with stories of his own forays into portraiture, both as artist and subject, and inform them with his analysis of the characters and personalities behind some of the most revealing and astonishing self-portraits ever painted. Behind The Eyes takes place at the Ardhowen on Saturday, October 8 at 10.30am.

Also taking place at the Ardhowen on Saturday, October 8 at 7.30pm, Fermanagh Live is thrilled to welcome Iona Sound, one of Ireland's most acclaimed music trios. The acclaimed classical folk trio, featuring Rory Pierce (Low D Whistle, Cello), Max Greenwood (Piano) and Brid Cannon (Violin), explore and interpret traditional folk material connecting Finland, Sweden, Norway, Scotland and Ireland. Expect a sublime audio-visual experience.

Fermanagh Live 2022 closes with an evening of smooth jazz in the Gallery Bar with Victoria Geelan and Scott Flanagan in From Berlin to Berlin on Sunday, October 9 at 8pm. Scott Flanigan is one of the foremost keyboard players on the Irish jazz scene and Victoria is a renowned jazz and blues singer who has been working professionally in NI for over five years, playing to enamoured crowds from Derry’s Venue 2013 to Belfast’s Grand Opera House. Fermanagh Film Club presents the Oscar nominated Norwegian film, The Worst Person In The World on Wednesday, October 12 at 8pm. A fresh, innovative spin to the romantic-drama genre, through an intelligent, insightful and funny screenplay, which is anchored in a breakout performance from Cannes Best Actress winner Renate Reinsve.
