The Fermanagh based "Erne Flower Arrangement Society recently held their monthly floral demonstration in the Cathedral Hall in Enniskillen. A packed hall full of floral enthusiasts were treated to a master class in Floral displays and arrangements by the extremely talented Heather Hume who amongst other accolades is a four times medal winner at the world famous Chelsea flower show in London.

Also on show during the evening was the " 50th Golden Anniversary Baton" which is collectively owned by the NIGFAS (Northern Ireland Group of Flower Arrangement Societies) This beautiful baton represents the 50th Anniversary of this society and to celebrate the baton will be displayed at every floral society in Northern Ireland. The Erne flower arrangement society were given the honour of being the first society to "take possession" of the baton and will then in two weeks time hand over to the Omagh Floral Society.

Chairperson, Ruth Hood, who took possession of the baton at the recent NIGFAS meeting in Antrim stated "to be the first floral society to take possession of the anniversary baton is a great honour for our club. We proudly displayed it at our recent monthly demonstration at the Cathedral Hall and everyone in attendance agreed that to be the first club to carry the baton was definitely a great priviledge and recognition for our society. It was a great topic of conversation during the evening and I will proudly hand it over to Omagh in due course for its onward travels around Northern Ireland."

The Erne Flower Arrangement Society meet on the first Wednesday of each Month at 7.30 pm in St Macartin's Hall in Enniskillen, new members are always very welcome, you can find details on Facebook.
