Winchester and Chandler's Ford MP Steve Brine tells us on his website that he is "passionate about the 'green' agenda which drove him towards a career in politics from a very early age". In 2019 he campaigned on a Conservative party manifesto that was against fracking. He tells us he is a principled MP.
So you'd think that he would oppose the Truss government's policy reversal of allowing fracking.
But no. On Thursday 19th October, he voted with the Truss government, against a ban on fracking. Forty of his Tory colleagues abstained, including Chris Skidmore, Truss's net zero tsar. Why didn't he at least join them?
When his words and actions so clearly seem to collide, can we trust him?
