To oversee the effective development and implementation of a 'Local Community Peace Action Plan', Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has established a PEACEPLUS Partnership. The Partnership, formed in June 2022, is representative of communities across the district and includes elected members, statutory representatives and social partners.

Working with a dedicated budget of €5.6 million under Investment Area 1.1 ‘Building Peaceful and Thriving Communities’, the Partnership is guiding the co-design process to identify local key priority projects that will promote peace and prosperity across the district.

To have your say and to assist with the development of an action plan, the Partnership would welcome participation from all communities and would encourage attendance at a public PEACEPLUS Consultation Event. The next event is taking place in Fermanagh House, Enniskillen on November 10 from 12pm to 1.30pm and Strule Arts Centre, Omagh on November 15 from 12pm to 1.30pm.

An online survey is also available on the Council’s website www.fermanaghomagh.com for anyone unable to attend an event. The online survey will be open until 5pm on November 30.

Speaking about the consultation process, Councillor Matthew Bell, Chair of the PEACEPLUS Partnership said: “The PEACEPLUS Partnership is delighted to secure €5.6 million from PEACEPLUS to deliver a range of priority projects on a cross community/cross border basis. These projects will ultimately make a significant and lasting contribution to peace and reconciliation in our district.

"It is imperative that we have representation from all community backgrounds involved in the development phase, therefore, I would encourage everyone to take part in the consultation process as the plan must focus on the needs of our communities and aim to overcome local challenges and barriers."

It is anticipated that a plan will be developed and submitted to the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) by April 2023 for review and approval with delivery commencing November 2023.
