A Maguiresbridge man has been given a fine and penalty points after he was stopped by police driving a vehicle with no driving licence and insurance.
On February 4, 2022, at 7.50pm police were on the Lisnagole Road, Maguiresbridge when they stopped a Peugeot Partner van, Enniskillen Magistrates Court heard on Monday.
They spoke to the driver – Mervyn Willian Bryans (57), of Tattinderry Heights, Maguiresbridge.
The court heard Bryans had been disqualified from driving for three years in 2009, and there were no current driving licence details available.
Bryans was cautioned for having no licence or insurance, and initially alleged he had a licence before saying he did not have one, the court heard.
His solicitor, Tommy Owens, told the court Bryans had purchased the van to sell on, and on the evening in question Bryans was in the van as it had not started one morning, and he had taken it out when he was stopped by police.
For no insurance and driving licence, Bryans was given six penalty points, and £350 in fines.
