A dispersal sale of 220 Holstein Friesian dairy cows, one of the largest auctions of its kind in this area, took place on Tuesday at Wilson Farms Ltd., Church Hill, Derrygonnelly.

The entire milking portion of the National Milk Recorded Holstein Friesians went under the hammer by auctioneers, Norton and Brooksbank from England.

The sale comprised over 200 cows along with two Holstein bulls bred in the noted Boghill herd.

The cows figures averaged 8500kgs on grass based rations and grazing, with 4.5per cent fat, 3.58 per cent protein and a SCC of 128. The cows were all cubicle housed and described by the auctioneers as a superb herd of medium sized, modern cows with super udders. Many of them were young cows in full milk.
