There was plenty of excitement in the sale ring at Clogher Valley Livestock Sales on Monday evening when the Northern Ireland Commercial Cattle Club held their “Stars of the Future” show and sale.

The 37 calves progressed through the judging rounds before a British Blue sired heifer exhibited by Chris Johnston from Fivemiletown was awarded the champion title.

This calf broke all previous records at the Clogher sale by being knocked down for £13,000, with an online bidder from Great Britain closing the sale.

The October-born calf weighed 260kgs and had attracted attention throughout the evening.

The champion breeding heifer went to Nathan Harvey, selling for £4,400 with the reserve breeding heifer champion from Marcus Reynolds selling for £2,450.
