A couple are warning others to be wary of bogus JustPark websites after experiencing fraudulent activity on their Revolut account when attempting to pay online for parking in Enniskillen recently.

The couple, who wish to remain anonymous, were visiting Enniskillen from Westmeath on Friday, February 24 and had pulled up to park at the car park on Wellington Road at 3.55pm.

“As we did not have any Sterling coins, my wife went to the paystation and Googled the website displayed thereon,” said the man, speaking to The Impartial Reporter, noting that his wife followed the link to a website and was invited to input her card details, which she did.

Impartial Reporter:

“Her payment provider, Revolut, sought authorisation for a €1 debit, which she authorised.”

At this point, the transaction seemed to freeze, and the couple could not obtain the progression to printing a ticket at the paystation.

‘Nervous’

“We were nervous that we would be ticketed by the parking warden so we cut short our shopping plans and I stayed with the car while my wife did a very brief visit to Townhall Street,” explained the man.

On the couple’s return home to Westmeath that evening at 7pm, the woman received a notification from Revolut that they had declined a debit request from ‘JustPark’ for €49.99.

“My wife was left with no option but to cancel her Revolut card to decline the fraudulent request,” said the man, who presumes that his wife had followed a fraudulent mirror website constructed to divert users and steal from them.

The couple wanted to highlight their experience to warn others to be wary of fraudulent mirror websites, saying that they “hope that other visitors to lovely Enniskillen can be spared a similar or worse experience”.
