A successful litter pick was held in the village of Magheraveely at the weekend. The event was supported by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and despite a chilly morning, was well attended by local residents.
However, in disheartening news, pickers stated that on their return to the village after cleaning the road, someone had thrown out rubbish despite the signs and the activity around the village.
Chairperson, Les Graydon, of Magheraveely Community Development Association, reminded the gathering that those that litter are among us and include “someone’s mum, father, sister, brother or even grandfathers and grandmothers”.
He thanked everyone for their help and the Council for their support, and took the opportunity to thank Dora Jonsdottir from Iceland for her involvement over the last 12 months with Magheraveely Community Development Association since she came to live in the village, and who is returning to her homeland in the coming weeks.
