A Fermanagh woman involved in a four car road traffic collision which saw her vehicle end up lodged in a fence has been convicted of driving offences at Enniskillen Magistrates Court.

On November 12, 2022, police received a report of a road traffic collision on the Derrygonnelly Road, Enniskillen.

When officers arrived, they observed a BMW lodged in a fence which had been driven by Rachel Carson (27), of Riverside, Enniskillen.

There was also damage to three other vehicles – a Volkswagen Passat, a Honda and Toyota Corolla, the court heard on Monday.

Officers spoke to Carson, who told them the brakes and tyres had just been replaced on her car. An extensive inspection of the car was carried out by a trained police officer, who found major faults with the car.

The MOT had also expired on November 22, 2021.

Carson told police she had been driving along and was unsure where to stop, and braked hard and ended up spinning into the fence.

She said she was driving normally at the time.

For using a vehicle in a dangerous condition, no vehicle test certificate, and driving without due care and attention, Carson was given six penalty points and fined a total of £500.
